Professor Greg Goodman AM

Professor Greg Goodman AM is a dermatologist and founder of DIV (MBBS (Hons), GradDipClinEpi, FACD, MD) and a registered medical practitioner – specialist dermatologist (MED0001056585).He has been a practicing dermatologist for more than 40 years. His areas of specialty include skin cancers, Mohs micrographic surgery, lasers in dermatology, complications with cosmetic treatments, cosmetic dermatology and the treatment of acne and post-acne scarring.
Professor Goodman holds academic teaching positions as Adjunct Professor with Monash University and University College London, and previously served as Chief of Surgery at the Skin Health Institute. He is President of the Australasian Society of Cosmetic and Procedural Dermatologists (ASCPD) and leads the higher education taskforce in Cosmetic Dermatology for the Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD), where he has trained registrars and fellows.He is a national trainer for cosmetic agents and a member of several international editorial boards and advisory committees.
He has a longstanding interest in skin care and skin therapeutics and has published extensively on acne, acne scarring, cosmetic enhancements and lasers. His current research focus is skin ageing. He has received multiple awards for his research and journal publications, has lectured widely in Australia and overseas on skin ageing and its treatment, and has designed software applications to assess skin ageing and optimise treatment suggestions.

Mike has worked in medical aesthetics for 23 years and has performed more than 50,000 treatments. Facelove offers practitioner-led consultations about facial ageing; whether any treatment is appropriate is determined at that consultation
Mike’s research focuses on the prevention and emergency management of complications in aesthetic practice, particularly filler-associated vision loss. He is co-author of the 2016 paper that first proposed the supraorbital and supratrochlear injection route for emergency hyaluronidase administration, which informed the 2020 Australian and New Zealand consensus statement and the 2024 RANZCO Guideline for Filler Blindness.
He is also second author of the 2026 UK consensus guidelines and has presented this work internationally.He is first author of a novel protocol for hypertrophic scar reduction, developed over more than a decade of practice and published as a case series in Plastic and Aesthetic Nursing (2024), which received the ISPAN Journal Award.
Mike began his career in medical aesthetics at Allergan, where he was trained by internationally recognised injectors including Dr Mauricio de Maio, Dr Michael Kane, Dr Ava Shamban, Dr Mary Lupo, Dr Alastair Carruthers, Dr Jean Carruthers, Dr Hervé Raspaldo, Dr Steven Liew and Professor Greg Goodman AM. He has since trained more than 6,000 doctors and nurses across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Thailand, India, Malaysia and the Philippines, and has consulted for multiple global aesthetics companies.
Mike is an Adjunct Lecturer (Practice) at Monash University, teaching alongside Professor Greg Goodman AM. His course covers patient suitability assessment, clinical governance, ethics, regulatory compliance and screening for body dysmorphic disorder. He holds a BSc (Anatomy) from Monash, serves on the board of the Cosmetic Nurses Association and has 12 peer-reviewed publications.
